Psilocybin, a natural substance, is found in more than 200 species of mushrooms. A notable example is Psilocybe Cubensis, better known as the magic mushroom or ‘shroom.’ In the Netherlands, magic truffles are the primary source of psilocybin, and they are legal.
Psilocybin from these ‘magic truffles/fungi’ can expand your awareness, provide spiritual experiences, and facilitate personal growth. They offer support and profound insights into the origins of blockages, false beliefs, healing of trauma and deep rooted behavior. They can penetrate to the core of your issues and provide insights.
These extraordinary intelligent mushrooms are only the visible part of a vast network of underground structures called mycelium. These refined networks permeate extensive areas and function as one living, collaborating organism. They are invaluable to our ecosystem, and it is no exaggeration to say that without mycelium, the human race would not exist.
We should show reverence for the natural origin of psilocybin truffles, which also grow in our own country. This intelligent mycelium network promotes the well-being of nature by distributing nutrients between soils, plants, and trees.
The beautifully filmed documentary Fantastic Fungi marvelously shows how the interaction takes place with the entire ecosystem on Earth.
Psilocybin contains psychedelic properties and belongs to the tryptamine family. Psilocybin, along with LSD, DMT, Ayahuasca and mescaline, belongs to the group known as psychedelics.
Entheogen are substances found in nature, in plants or fungi, with strong mind-expanding effects.
Entheogens are psychoactive plants that are used in a religious, shamanic, or spiritual context. Psilocybin is (next to ayahuasca, san pedro, bufo and peyote) considered an entheogen due to its ability to induce profound spiritual and mystical experiences.
Note; synthetic psychedelics like MDMA and LSD are not classified as entheogens, they are psychoactive substitutes
The consciousness-altering substance – psilocybin – found in magic mushrooms/truffles/fungi helps to break fixed thought patterns. It stimulates the growth of new branches and connections between brain cells. After consuming these mushrooms, your perception of the space you are in, of time, the way you think, and the way you experience your own identity changes.
How it works in the brain, in short
Psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms, fungi, and truffles) closely resembles the neurotransmitter serotonin. This similarity allows psilocybin to bind to serotonin receptors in the brain, particularly one specific type of receptor (5-HT2A), which is abundant in the human cerebral cortex. Ingesting psilocybin causes stronger communication between parts of the brain that are normally disconnected from each other. The neocortex, responsible for higher brain functions, becomes more active, while areas responsible for automatic behavior and the fight-or-flight response are suppressed. Psilocybin also inhibits the brain regions that filter incoming stimuli, allowing sensory information to reach consciousness that normally remains unconscious.
Research on psilocybin for healing PTSD, depression, addiction, and conditioned behavior
In both the academic and medical worlds, psychedelic treatment, including with psilocybin, is at the center of attention, and much scientific research is being conducted. Organizations such as MAPS and John Hopkins University are conducting numerous studies with promising results in areas including anxiety, depression, PTSD, psychological disorders, addiction, and spirituality.
Since 2019, various studies have been underway in several Dutch university medical centers on therapeutic treatment with psilocybin. These studies include examining the effectiveness of psilocybin for treatment-resistant depression. The results so far have been remarkably hopeful.
Legal in the Netherlands
The use of psilocybin in the form of magic truffles is legal in the Netherlands. Psychedelic sessions with psilocybin are organized with great dedication and care in a ceremonial setting, guided by experienced, trained facilitators, and supplemented with therapeutic methodologies approached from a holistic standpoint. The program takes place in a trusted natural environment, creating a safe and welcoming atmosphere that invites self-discovery and growth.
