Trauma recovery with psychedelics
Many people go through traumatic experiences during their lives. In these extraordinary times, the longing for a deeper self-awareness is increasing.
Becoming aware of who you are involves getting to know yourself on a deeper level where we reconnect with our emotions, body and heart. Working through and healing from trauma is an essential aspect of this path.

Afterward, we are no longer affected by it and it has no influence on our daily lives. In fact, we have learned from it, and it has made us more resilient on emotional, physical and mental level.
However, natural release often does not occur after a traumatic experience, causing the tension to build up and become stuck in the body. Instead of being able to fight or flight, the body has one option: freeze. This is also known as dissociation.
Dissociation: we feel detached from ourselves where we disconnect from physical and emotional feelings. A natural respons to trauma and overwhelming experiences.
This unresolved traumatic experience remains in our body as stress and tension. It can lead to physical, emotional and mental issues that may significantly affect our daily lives. Some problems may not manifest until years later.
Consider traumatic experiences such as:
Non-intentional traumas: traffic accidents, workplace accidents, your profession (police, fire service, military…), as well as natural disasters.
Intentional traumas: sexual abuse, rape, robbery, neglect, prolonged bullying, kidnapping, physical and verbal violence, etc.
There is also a distinction between:
Short-term traumas: birth, loss, (traffic) accidents, workplace accidents, rape, assault, natural disasters, etc.
Long-term traumas: bullying, prolonged (sexual) abuse or mistreatment, captivity, (emotional) neglect, physical violence (e.g., in relationships or within the family), or being witness to multiple forms of violence or abuse.
However, the wound is not healed; a bandage has just been placed over it. But what does the body do with an infection? It pushes it to the surface, wanting to cleanse and purify. The same happens with trauma—it simmers beneath the surface of our daily lives, waiting for attention.
The trauma will repeatedly reveal itself by triggering you, leading to destructive behavior in daily life, often accompanied by physical and/or mental problems.
How did your birth go? Were you wanted? What was this period like for your mother and father? Was there stress, anxiety, chaos, or was there excitement and joy? Were there any complications?
Consider factors such as: delivery with forceps, labor stimulants, labor suppressants, umbilical cord around the neck, prolonged labor, vacuum extraction, cesarean section, breech delivery, incubator?
All these experiences are stored in our cellular memory. They are unconscious experiences that can date back to our conception. The overwhelming experience of birth, which frequently involves complications, is one of the most common trauma that every person carries.
Our emotional brain is developed long before our rational brain becomes active. Many of our current patterns are rooted in our time in the womb and in the experience of our birth.
Birth, as beginning of a new life, is a crucial moment when one unconsciously forms (often mistaken) beliefs about oneself and the world, such as ‘the world is unsafe,’ ‘I don’t belong here,’ ‘I’m not good enough ‘, I’m not loved’ etc.”
Read more in this blog about the impact of birth and how a birth trauma can be processed with the support of psychedelic plant sessions.
Suppressing emotions, becoming hardened, and being judgmental are difficult coping mechanisms used to avoid feeling; we simply bypass the issue.
‘ What the eye doesn’t see, the heart doesn’t grieve over ’.
It can become a major challenge when the core of the traumatic experience is triggered and we get confused by it. This often happens when it involves forms of abuse.
Realize that you have created a Great Wall between your connection to your body and the traumatic experience. Our mind, our rational thinking, forms this Wall.
In this way, we protect ourselves by avoiding the the deepest pain, the shock — the trauma — that lives within our pain body (as Eckhart Tolle describes it).
Imprints are often used by the perpetrator in cases of sexual abuse, especially at a young age. Consider phrases like: “This never happened,” “It’s your fault,” or “If you tell anyone, then….”
This can have a massive impact. You carry a secret that, based on your beliefs, you feel you can’t talk to anyone about. And in cases of sexual abuse at a young age, you often end up believing these imprints.
Confusion arises when your body is triggered in the present moment by situations that evoke feelings of insecurity, stress and fear. It’s a reminder from the body of something you’d rather not confront.
Confusion usually arises when you come into contact with the core where the traumatic experience is hidden. Because you no longer dare to trust your own feelings and you question everything. The mind is likely to rationalize. It’s something that has always worked out and provided a feeling of being in controle.
It’s an assault on emotional, physical, mental and spiritual (soul) level and it has deeply undermined our self-confidence.
This leads to distrust and loneliness, creating a barrier between you and connections with others.
Fear, insecurity, weakness, helplessness, shame, guilt, and disgust are emotions that can deeply affect us
Healing is going beyond the barrier of the mind, to the core wound. The result is a sense of freedom, liberation and relaxation
Trauma recovery involves embracing emotions. Allowing brings ultimately a sense of safety, self-confidence and forgiveness
The place where the harm was done also holds the key to processing and healing. However, this time in a safe environment
The body has stored all information like a memory bank. You heal and recover from trauma through feeling.
A safe field for trauma healing with psychedelic plants, such as psilocybine truffels, psilohuasca or ayahuasca. The ceremonies are guided by experienced trained facilitators in a welcome, warm and trusted setting.
Psychedelic ceremonial sessions can be a meaningful support with trauma processing. They allow us to access deeper parts of our subconscious that regular therapy often can’t reach due to mental barriers. This allows the release of long-held emotions and feelings.
To move forward, it’s important to connect more deeply with our body in a safe field. Reliving the traumatic experience in a secure environment helps with processing and healing. This happens at your own pace, with time and peace.
Psychedelische sessies with plant medication in a ceremonial setting make this possible. This includes multi-day programs with psilohuasca, truffels (psilocybine), chocobliss, of ayahuasca.
Feeling, allowing emotions, and reliving impactful events in a safe environment facilitate the healing of trauma.
When you have a curiosity to explore yourself and a desire to release what’s holding you back, psychedelic sessions can offer a profound path for healing.
( like; psilohuasca, ayahuasca, psilocybine)
The mind is trained to avoid difficult questions. It can change the truth or twist the facts. But you can trust your body; it doesn’t lie.
However, a psychedelic plant ceremony is not for everyone. Besides the screening for physical or medical contraindications, one must also be mentally and emotionally stable. It’s a personal process that uncovers repressed problems and traumas, which can also be experienced as intense.
This also requires responsibility from the participant. Read more information on this page.
Realize that healing comes from through reconnecting with your body, heart, and inner safety.
At any moment in your life, you have the opportunity to work on yourself, to restore your connection and to live with confidence and the freedom within.
